Mediclinic is one of our designated service providers

Remedi only includes the best healthcare professionals and facilities on our network of designated service providers. Mediclinic Southern Africa is one of our designated service providers and we would like to tell you why they made the cut.

Designated service providers are doctors, specialists and other healthcare providers Remedi has reached an agreement with, regarding payment and rates for the purpose of Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB).

They have an integrated care approach at their hospitals and clinics

Mediclinic Southern Africa offers 52 hospitals as well as 2 day clinics across South Africa and Namibia.

At Mediclinic, they believe that an integrated care approach is key to providing value to their patients. They give value by delivering quality care, enhancing the patient experience and managing the costs in the care process.

Patient experience survey and the outcomes

As part of this integrated care approach, Mediclinic has implemented a patient experience survey across all their hospitals. This means patients can give feedback on their experience at the hospital after they have been discharged. Mediclinic uses the results to improve their hospitals where patients feel they are not meeting expectations.

One of the changes implemented following patient feedback:

Having more flexible visiting hours in general wards. This means Remedi members’ loved ones will have more convenient options when they want to visit them in general wards.

Enhancing quality and managing costs with their programmes

CARE EXPERT PROGRAMME

Mediclinic introduced a programme called Care Expert at some of their hospitals as part of their focus on enhancing quality and managing costs. The Care Expert programme allows selected hospitals to provide elective hip or knee replacement surgery as a packaged procedure. This means they are combining the service offerings of several healthcare professionals into one product – to benefit patients. Remedi has contracted with Mediclinic to offer this service to our members.

MEDICLINIC BABY PROGRAMME

To help inform and prepare future parents for the experience ahead, the Mediclinic Baby programme gives parents weekly updates and insights. It also offers them access to antenatal classes and public information events.

MEDICLINIC PRIME

As another part of its focus on improving the value they offer to their patients, Mediclinic Prime focuses on giving useful information about lifestyle and health issues. Along with benefits such as entry to key sporting events, the programme also ensures that Mediclinic patients receive regular updates on how to manage their own health before it becomes necessary to seek medical intervention.
