Your 2016 driving score changes
Discovery Insure’s aim is to make South African roads safer for all. We do this through our Vitalitydrive programme. To continue striving towards this goal, we’ve enhanced the way we measure your driving behaviour. Whether you have a standalone or a smartphone-enabled DQ-Track installed in your vehicle, these Driver performance score enhancements will allow you to see improvements in your driving behaviour sooner and help you earn more rewards.
- Acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding and cellphone use are now calculated over 30 days instead of three months. Distance and night-driving will still be calculated over a three-month period.
- Vehicles that qualify as high performance vehicles have new thresholds for acceleration g-force, allowing safely driven high performance cars to score much higher in the acceleration category. Motorcycles have their own g-force measures and are not impacted by this change.
- Night-driving is now calculated based on the number of minutes of night-driving instead of the number of trips. The score is 150 points minus the number of minutes of night-driving.
These enhancements were implemented in December last year.
