The Dollar Discovery Retirement Optimiser is built on the back of Discovery Life’s new Dollar Life Plan, launched in 2014. The Discovery Dollar Life Plan, a first-of-its-kind global insurance product is designed to meet your offshore responsibilities. This could include the associated costs of education of children or dependants living overseas.

As an extra benefit to you, with the Dollar Discovery Retirement Optimiser, you can maximise your retirement savings through fee discounts and boosted fund values in hard currency. The US dollar-linked product achieves this through two unique benefits, the Dollar Retirement Investment Integrator and the Dollar Life Plan Optimiser.

The Dollar Retirement Investment Integrator gives you discounts on all fees until the age of 65. These discounts start at 20 percent and increase in line with contribution size up to 80 percent. The Dollar Life Plan Optimiser will then boost your income from age 65 by providing tax-free payments annually over ten years with increases at the US inflation rate each year. These payments are created through channelling unneeded risk cover from your Dollar Life Plan into cash.

Fees and contributions for the Dollar Discovery Retirement Optimiser

Discovery Invest does not charge initial fees for the product, but charges an annual administration fee of 1.5% of the investment value. Contributions are received in US dollars, but deducted from your bank account in South African rands, in line with the rand/dollar exchange rate.
