The race to #catchthefatkid is on – join in

Ron Rutland is cycling through Africa to meet the Springboks in London at the World Cup in 2015 – and one enthusiastic Vitality member could join him there.

Who’s the kid on the bike?

Ron Rutland is on a mission: he’s #fatkidonabike, a regular guy who, on 30 June 2013, started an epic journey of 28 months and 43 000km across Africa.

His cycle of adventures will end in London in September 2015 in time for the Rugby World Cup. There, he’ll meet the Springboks to hand over the flags of each country he cycled through and a message from former captains John Smit and Francois Pienaar.

A ride for hope and humanity

Ron’s journey is called ‘Lettie’s ride in honour of Nix ‘Lettie’ Haynes’. He wanted to honour the spirit of positivity, hope and humanity in which Nix ‘Lettie’ Haynes battled cancer.

As Ron cycles to lose weight, he says he is also celebrating health, life, mobility and vitality.
