What can you expect from a triathlon?
A triathlon is a multidiscipline sporting event that starts with a swim leg, moves into a cycle leg, and ends off with a run. The distances of each leg, and the total distance covered, depend on the event type.
What are the Discovery World Triathlon Cape Town distances?
There are two options for the Discovery World Triathlon Cape Town. Sprint distance: a 500m swim, 20km cycle, and 5km run; and Olympic distance: a 1 500m swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run.
For most, the hardest part of the event is the swim. So make your choice based on the swimming distance you are comfortable with. But, whichever way you look at it, completing a triathlon shows a significant commitment to training and competing, regardless of the distance and with Team Vitality support; you can do it!
There are many reasons to try a tri – do it with Team Vitality in 2015
Eric Harr, in his book Triathlon Training, gives a number of reasons to try a tri. These range from losing a great deal of weight quickly to personal fulfilment and bragging rights.
Whatever your reason for entering, triathlons are rewarding in many ways. Biokineticist, Ceejae Miller, who is a triathlete and has done her first Ironman, says the triathlon experience is much easier and more fun when you’re training with a group. Her advice is to join a club and get expert advice. That’s exactly what you’ll get from Team Vitality. A group that will be there with you every step of the way. We’ll also send you motivational tips and advice from a community of athletes at different experience levels.
Team Vitality offers something for everyone. And this year, we’re encouraging you to give this tri a try. Read more and enter the 2015 Discovery World Triathlon Cape Town.
